The past week has been a very good one indeed. Apart from being busy in the studio painting I also entered 2 of my pieces of work into the Derby Open & another 2 into The Midlands Open at the Tarpey Gallery in Castle Donnington.
Competition is tight for both of the opens. I know that the Derby Open itself had at total 535 pieces of work entered & from this they selected just 111 pieces.
I like both of these opens because they have a great feel about them & of course if my work gets selected I get to go along to the private views.
Fortunately all 4 pieces of my work have been selected for the opens & I’m looking forward to the private view at the Tarpey Gallery this Saturday & the private view at the Derby Museum & Art Gallery next Friday evening.
This time last year I also had my work selected for both opens and I went along to the private views. Recalling this brings back memories of a very difficult time for me: when just getting out of bed in the morning really was an almighty task.
So this year it’s a truly great feeling to be able to relish both opens & enjoy every minute of the private views!
